Family planning

You should visit an Ob/Gyn specialist for contraception consultation and for choosing the best contraception method for you. In Dr. Shterev Hospital, we provide insertion and extraction of pessaries and hormonal implants.

Consultations and examinations for infertility

Infertility is a reproductive problem, usually observed after a year of intercourse without contraception, but with the inability for pregnancy. If the woman is under 30 yo, the recommended time for a medical consultation is after a year of unsuccessful intercourse, and if the woman is over 35 yo, this period is only six months.  The necessary tests and examinations in such cases are gynecological examination, ultrasound observation of the pelvis, folliculometry, hormonal assays, review of the fallopian tubes, genetic and immunological tests, spermogram.

Menstrual disorders

You can call our specialists in cases of menstrual disorders, including primary amenorrhea (menstruation does not begin at puberty), secondary amenorrhea (absence of menstruation for at least three months), oligomenorrhea (menstrual periods occurring at intervals of greater than 35 days), menorrhagia (menstrual periods with abnormally heavy or prolonged bleeding), dysmenorrhea (painful periods).

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)

More than 30 types of sexually transmitted infections have been identified, caused by various microorganisms like bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites. The most common are gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomoniasis, Candida, syphilis, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, AIDS. Some of this infection can also be transmitted from the mother to the child during pregnancy, delivery, or breastfeeding. Another way of infection is through nonsterile needles syringes or blood and blood products (for syphilis, hepatitis, and AIDS). It is essential to know that untreated infections are the main reason for infertility.

Bacterial Vaginosis

This infection is widespread, which can affect every woman no matter her age or sexual activity. Bacterial Vaginosis is a type of vaginal inflammation caused by the overgrowth of bacteria naturally found in the vagina, which upsets the natural balance.

Complications from untreated infections

The complications from untreated sexually transmitted diseases are related to inflammation of the genitourinary system of both women and men. The complications may lead to pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, or premature delivery.  The diagnostic and treatment can be performed only by a specialist after a series of examinations and laboratory tests (blood tests, DNA analysis, microbiological tests, microscope observation). The timely treatment of the partner is mandatory. The symptoms which lead to the Ob/Gyn’s cabinet are unusual genital discharge, redness, burning, itching, pain, urination problems, wounds, etc.

Treatment of climacteric symptoms

The climacteric symptoms are complex, with different degrees of appearance and duration for each woman. The main symptoms include menstrual disorders, neurovegetative complaints, metabolic changes, atrophic skin, and mucosal problems. The treatment consists of hormone replacement therapy with medication or phytoestrogens.
