Electrocoagulation

What is Electrocoagulation?
Electrocoagulation uses high-frequency electricity for treatment of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, aiming to stimulate the body to naturally produce new epithelial cells on the place of these, destroyed in the procedure.

How do we perform it?
We perform the procedure in an Ob/Gyn cabinet, while the woman is sitting on the gynecological chair. The doctor uses a speculum for better visibility of the uterus and the cervix, like in PAP testing, and with colposcopy and application of different solutions observes the area. The procedure is performed with a microprocessing apparatus for high-frequency microsurgery.

When is it applied?
We use the electrocoagulation in cases of pathological changes in the epithelial cells of the cervix, detected during an Ob/Gyn examination.

What is the minimum hospital stay?
One day

What are the contraindications for performing electrocoagulation?
pregnancy
moderate-to-severe cervical dysplasia

What is the recovery period?
In most cases to the procedure is connected to low to moderate burning and small injury of the area, which starts to recover in a couple of days. After the manipulation, the patient may detect a colorless vaginal discharge or slight bleeding, which also stop over the next several days.
