The day of the surgery
After being hospitalized, two hours before the surgery, you will undergo:
• Bath and cleaning - removing the hair of intimate parts. It is needed to reduce the risk of infections during the operation. You can do this procedure by yourself at home by shaving or depilation.
• Enema - this is one of the mandatory hospital preparations before surgery. The goal is to clear the intestinal contents of the colon's extremities located in the small pelvis. A disposable set is used in the procedure.
• Placing a peripheral venous catheter - a plastic disposable sterile cannula designed to hold a peripheral venous vessel. The purpose is to infuse anesthesia, intravenous administration of medicinal products, infusion, haemotransfusion, etc. When selecting a venipuncture spot, take into mind both the size of the cannula (using standardized sizes according to the diameter of their opening, determining the rate of infusion) and the condition of the veins available. During venipuncture, you will experience some pain with the puncture of the intravascular cannula.
You will be accompanied by a midwife or a representative of the anesthesiology team to the operating room. There you will be helped to lay on the operating table and be included with monitors for vital indicators.
Direct continuous clinical control by the anesthesiology team is mandatory. The operation will start after the anesthesiologist has determined that complete analgesia has been achieved.
