Over the last 30 years after the first successful IVF procedure, Prof. Atanas Shterev and his team have built the foundations of the modern infertility treatment in Bulgaria. The team of the hospital is a pioneer in the development of an innovative for Bulgaria medical specialty - fetal surgery. The exclusive Center for prenatal and fetal medicine in Dr. ShtereV Hospital, opened in 2013, gives a chance for a successful of pregnancy, which until recently were considered incurable. The physicians in the Center work in collaboration with the famous academy of Prof. Kypros Nicolaides of the British King’s College Hospital.

In 2014 and 2015 in Dr. Shterev Hospital for the first time in Bulgaria were performed three innovative fetal surgery techniques, which gives a chance to save the babies even before their delivery. In the next few years, dozens of prenatal surgeries were performed, and they helped the parents to welcome their healthy babies.
