Cervical Cancer - accents

Worldwide Cervical Cancer is the second most common disease among women between 20 and 45 years of age. Cervical Cancer is an uncontrolled division of injured cells in the cervix.

The cervix is covered with two types of epithelium - a multi-layered flat epithelium and a cylindrical epithelium. Depending on which type of epithelium originates, PMSS is squamous cell carcinoma (affecting the flat epithelium) and adenocarcinoma (developing in the cervix canal).

The main cause of the disease in 95-99,7% of cases is human papillomavirus (HPV).

In Bulgaria, the incidence of the disease shows a lasting upward trend - 1100-1200 women have been diagnosed with it in recent years and deaths are between 300 and 400. This means that in Bulgaria every day one woman dies from cervical cancer and three new cases of the disease are diagnosed.

How to prevent cervical cancer?

A regular Ob/Gyn visit is required for prophylactic examinations. In modern medicine, there is a vaccine, but it must be put before the beginning of sexual life. It is also extremely important to have a good culture of sexual communication.
