What is Veracity?

Veracity is a prenatal test for chromosomal abnormalities without any risk for the pregnancy, because it uses a standard probe of the mother's blood, containing cell-free DNA (cfDNA) of the baby. The technology of Veracity, based on DNA analysis, detects up to 99% the most common fetal aneuploidy - genetic conditions, connected with the abnormal count of some of the DNA chromosomes, such as Trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome), Trisomy 18 (Edwards Syndrome), and Trisomy 13 (Patau Syndrome). The test can also identify the baby’s sex.

For whom is Veracity recommended?

Veracity test is applicable for every pregnant woman but is particularly suitable for women older than 35, and with ultrasound detection of chromosomal abnormalities during the first-trimester screening test. The test is used in patients with trisomy in a previous pregnancy, and to prior miscarriages.

When and how do we perform Veracity?

The test can be performed after the 10th gestational week, and the blood sample is collected in Dr. Shterev Hospital. Then we send it for analysis in the NIPD laboratory. The results come back in 7 working days, and if necessary, they include consultation with fetal medicine or genetic specialist.
